I thought I'd just write a few word here to tell you a bit about my self.  As you may have gathered I'm the person who compiled this Web Site.  The reason? I felt that I was being left behind in the computer rat race - It's all very well sticking to technology that works, but there comes a time when you need to be a bit more adventurous and strike out for pastures new, for 'new pastures' in this case, read, World Wide Web amd the Internet.

I have been working with computers for what seems to be ages (well it probably has been ages), my expereince goes way back to the good old days of CP/M running on Z80 CPUs running at 4Mhz with a massive 64Kbytes of RAM and floppy disks with a capacity of 72Kbytes (yes 72Kbytes not 720Kbytes). That was way back in 1983 and since then things have come a long way - but it does beg the question "What benefit have we gained from the ever onward march of technology?". In the early 80's I used my computer for Word Proccesing, Programming, etc and that is basically what I do now. We must remember that there was life before the computer was invented.

I am also interested in older technology and antiques, I'm just as happy with wind up gramophones, valve radios, old telephones, parafin lamps, magic lanterns, vintage typewriters, reel to reel tape recorders. etc as I am with the the latest offereings from Intel/AMD. I think I could be classified as a horder of obsolute 'Junk' I still have computers around the place based on the following CPUs - Z80, Z80a, 6502, 8088, 8086, 80186 yes 186, 286, 386DX and SX, 486 DX and SX. Then there's the daisy wheel printers, the VT52 terminals, the Epson MX80 printers. I also have a collection of the early machines made by Compaq ie. The Models I, II and III - and what wonderfuly well made machines they are - nowhere near the quality of todays offereings. I still have the first computer I ever used (It belonged to my old school when I first used it - but I saved it from the skip on a chance visit) and despite the fact that it is now getting on for twenty years old still works perfectly.
